I booked this for myself, husband and father and what a fab experience it was. Peter and Lesley were really knowledgeable and friendly. We went through the history of gin with 6 "generous" samples to test
This was bought as a present for me and i was really impressed. I thought i knew my gins until i went on this experience. Peter led our experience with so much knowledge and probably the best thing was how homely the whole experience was.
A very enjoyable experience. The history of gin and links to Gibraltar were explained and the host was welcoming and friendly. Would recommend
We had a brilliant time, amazing experience must do if you love Gin
A great way to spend an evening! Very interesting and informative, we loved the experience and made sure to buy some gin at the airport on our way home!
A great hour and a half with Peter listening to the origins and history of gin, along with lovely little anecdotes of how things got their names and where certain sayings come from. Tasting the different gins, and the cocktails at the end, converted one of our group to give gin another go - if that isn't a sound endorsement, I'm not sure what is :)
Very good fun and informative. It’s definitely easy to ‘speakeasy’ afterwards
Great trip. Plenty of gin to try and gift boxes to take home. Really knowledgeable guide and lots of detail on the history.
This was a truly excellent experience, one of the highlights of my long weekend in Gibraltar. Peter was a knowledgeable, interesting, informative and fun guide. Despite having attended several similar places in the past, I picked up quite a few new things that I hadn't come across before. The tasting was well organised and the portions and range of different gins was generous.
We did the tour one of the afternoons, you need ca hour. Guide (Peter?) was excellent, I’ve learned quite a lot about gin history. I was also surprised that many fashionable brands theses days are not actually real gins!
Tasting took place at the end, you try 6 samples and get a small takeaway jar with your favourite one.
We’ve also got nice G&T at the end. You can buy bottles with 25% discount. They also ship abroad in plastic pouches in sturdy cartoon boxes.
Highly recommend!
Fabulous hour or two at this small local gin distillery. Very knowledgeable about the history of gin and Gibraltar and we sampled gin recipes throughout history to the current gin made by the distillery called Campion gin which has won an award at the World gin awards. Would highly recommend the experience. The distillery is well located, being central just off Main Street. Take care with some other gins in the shops entitled Gibraltar gin. They are unlikely to be distilled there. Spirit of the Rock is the only local gin distillery and is family owned and run.
What a great little tour. Informative, interesting and well worth the cost.
The distillery is located in a small building just off of Cathedral Square. It’s not so much a tour - as the premises are quite small, as a very informative talk.
The history and evolution of gin is described in detail, and also things such as advertising.
I thoroughly recommend a visit. If nothing else, you have the opportunity to try all of the currently available styles of gin, and you get a cocktail at the end.
I didn’t catch the name of the owner (for which I feel a bit rude), but what really nice bloke. Very knowledgeable and more than happy to answer questions on the subject.
If you have a spare hour and like your gin, this has to be high on your to-do list if in Gib.
We visited last week and spent a very informative hour learning about the history of gin. We are gin lovers and come from near the Plymouth gin distillery. It was just the two of us on the tour and the host was very informative and entertaining and the gin tasting was great (but I would advise not to do it on an empty stomach like me). We absolutely loved his product and four bottle now reside in Cornwall (not for long I think). I also think the idea of the plastic refills that can be posted is brilliant (they also squash easily into your suitcase). I have already recommended you and am sure you will do well in the future...and excellent gin !!!
