Over 500 songs from nearly 30 countries have been entered into this year’s Gibraltar International Song Festival. Along with the 14 finalists, the guest act of the night will be tribute group, the Bootleg Beatles.
Cuba, Israel, Italy, Norway, Poland, Spain, the UK and Gibraltar are the countries from which this year’s finalists hail. They will be on the Rock next month for the Gibraltar International Song Festival, with organisers saying the response has been “very encouraging”.
According to the organisers, the quality of the songs themselves is also increasing by the year. An international panel of judges was tasked with whittling down hundreds of entries: with prizes to be awarded on the night, including the top prize of £4,000, sponsored by Restsso.
As well as the artists taking part in the competition, the evening will see a performance by the tribute act described by the late former Beatles producer, Sir George Martin, as a “terrific show”: the Bootleg Beatles.
The Gibraltar International Song Festival gala night takes place on Saturday the 23rd of April. Doors open at 7.30pm, with the show starting at 9pm. Tickets cost £15
