Those who do not have the first vaccine will be require to have a covid rapid negative test (at their expense) on the same day of the event. The test result must be presented to the Organiser at Front of House.

Jeffrey Archer The renowned author will be focusing on the inspiration behind his latest novels the William Warwick series, and in particular the fourth publication in this series, entitled Over My Dead Body, which was published worldwide on 12th October. Jeffrey Archer is the author of 27 novels, seven sets of short stories, three prison diaries and three West End plays. He will be happy to take questions after his talk.

The author writes anecdotally based on his childhood and early youth, reminiscing about Gibraltar from his perspective as part of the baby boomer generation. It is a nostalgic look back on life in Gibraltar in the 50s and 60s.

Sam takes us through his life as an author exploring his different interests and writing styles. He will explore his more recent work in the form of a blog where he remained active during lockdown. Here he wrote over 150 posts on medical matters, family history, general Gibraltar history and other topics that sparked his interest.

Rosanna Morales and Justin Bautista will join forces to talk about vegan food and lifestyle. Rosanna’s book ‘Ageing in the Garden of Vegan’ is an invitation to reconnect with the natural world. It provides simple and helpful guidance for taking the first steps towards becoming vegan in the later years of life. Justin Bautista kick started his passion for food whilst at university in London where he catalogued his grandmother’s recipes and made them in true 'Llanito style' for all his flatmates to enjoy. Now recorded in his trilogy of books, Richard Garcia will reflect on some of the more interesting aspects of this rich period of Gibraltar’s development as a valuable British possession, which became much more than just a strategic fortress.

Dr Jennifer Ballantine Perera and the poet Trino Cruz, have been working towards having a greater understanding of current aspirations for a literary culture and art expression at Gibraltar. Their conversation will engage with the backdrop for Gibraltar writings, together with the terms under which artists and authors find expression in what is a complex set of linguistic, historical, and geographical underpinnings which render this space difficult to pin down. Trino and Jennifer will discuss these themes alongside their forthcoming publication of a journal dedicated to these questions.

Join us for the second Gibraltar Literature Week, dedicated to promoting our local authors and celebrating the value of books and literature. From the 8th to 13th November 2021, Gibraltar Cultural Services is organising a varied programme which includes live events and online content, school visits and other initiatives as part of the offering. So not to abandon the international edge that was provided by the Gibraltar International Literary Festival, GCS is also coordinating and producing two days of international talks, inviting three internationally renowned authors to Gibraltar. These talks will focus on their publications, as well as a variety of literary material, with content both for children and adults.
