A Mama Lotties Night

Mama Lotties began with a website and then a series of cookbooks, now Gibraltar’s culinary website MamaLotties.com brings Gibraltarian cooking straight to your taste buds. 

Mama Lotties has teamed up with Saffron Restaurant & Bar, for a Mama take over, presenting guests with a delectable 3 course menu of just some of Gibraltar’s best known dishes.

Mama Lotties popularity has grown exponentially in the last year and Gibraltar’s dishes are now made, shared and enjoyed not only in our small little country but all over the world. Students enjoy them in the UK and no doubt introduce this to their friends.  However, aside from the quick lunch or visiting someone at home, or showing up at you ‘mama’s' asking her for a plate of Menestra,  there is no sit down venue where you can relax with friends, enjoy Gibraltarian cuisine with locally / regionally sourced ingredients and a glass of wine or Mama’s special sangria.

Mama Lotties will be taking over Saffron Restaurant & Bar on the evening of Saturday 23rd April 2016 at 8pm.

The night will run as a pre-ticketed event where guests can enjoy a welcome drink, choose one of three main courses, Mama’s Calamares Rellenos, Alcachofas or Cima Rellena), Starters and Desserts, which consist of a platter of dishes such as (Gazpacho, Torta de Acelga (spinach pie), Calabacines Rellenos (stuffed courgettes), Serrano Ham Croquettes, as well as, Bollitos de Hornazo (sweet anis bread), Tortillas de Pasas (brandy and rasin bites) and Amaretto Trifle). Welcome Cava

Starter platter 

Gazpacho, Torta de Acelga (spinach pie), Calabacines Rellenos (stuffed courgettes), Serrano Ham Croquettes,

Main Course:

Mama’s Calamares Rellenos

Tender portions of squid stuffed with mama’s own stuffing and oven baked with a tomato sauce, ready to melt away in your mouth. Served with patatas a lo pobre

Dessert Selection

Bollitos de Hornazo (sweet anis bread), Tortillas de Pasas (brandy and rasin bites) and Amaretto Trifle.

Starter platter 

Gazpacho, Torta de Acelga (spinach pie), Calabacines Rellenos (stuffed courgettes), Serrano Ham Croquettes,

Main Course:

Mama’s Cima Rellena (pork)

A beautiful Pork Sirloin, stuffed with mama’s freshly made stuffing and oven roasted to perfection. Served with skin-on sweet potato fries and a side salad

Dessert Selection

Bollitos de Hornazo (sweet anis bread), Tortillas de Pasas (brandy and rasin bites) and Amaretto Trifle.

Main Course:

Mama’s Alcachofas (Artichoke Stew)

Eating this artichoke stew is both fun and satisying. Tear the artichoke leaves and enjoy everything they have to offer. If you’re a fan of artichokes, beans and in search of a hearty stew then this is for you. 

Dessert Selection

Bollitos de Hornazo (sweet anis bread), Tortillas de Pasas (brandy and rasin bites) and Amaretto Trifle.
